Relational Algebra – What is Relational Algebra?

By Dinesh Thakur

Relation Algebra is a procedural query language for RDBMS (Relational Database Management System). An Algebra based on the set of operators (like Arithmetic operator, union, intersection relational operator, etc.) and operand. Edgar F. Codd created it for a relational database. Relational Algebra provides a fundamental query for retrieving data from databases. The retrieved result from algebra expression is a relation which formed from one or more relations. Relational Algebra specifies many operations to manipulate relations. [Read more…] about Relational Algebra – What is Relational Algebra?

What is relational database? – Definition

By Dinesh Thakur

The database is the location to store the data. Firstly we used excel sheet to store the data. However, it has some problem with data integrity and redundancy problem. This problem solved by E.F. Codd proposed a model in 1970. This model was straightforward. It used the concept of mathematical relation which looks like a table. [Read more…] about What is relational database? – Definition

What is Software | Type of Software | Definition of Software

By Dinesh Thakur

What is Software: Computer software, or only software, is a kind of program that enable a user to perform some specific task or used to operate a computer. It directs all the peripheral devices on the computer system – what to do and how to perform a task. PC Software plays the role of mediator between the user and computer hardware. Without software, a user can’t perform any task on a digital computer.

A computer system can be divided into three components: the hardware, the software, and the users. Software can be further divide into mainly two parts: Application software and System Software. Bare use of hardware is not easy, so to make it easy, software created. [Read more…] about What is Software | Type of Software | Definition of Software

What is Browsers?

By Dinesh Thakur

A Browser is a piece of software that everybody needs if they want to surf the Internet for useful or interesting websites. Web pages are designed to be read by Browsers and Browsers are designed to read web pages. Fortunately, acquiring a Browser is slightly easier than catching the common cold. They are everywhere. Most computers now come with one pre-installed. A great many CD-ROMs are now designed to be read like a website and so include a Browser which can be installed onto a computer’s hard drive and ISPs give them away free to anyone who signs up for their service. There is nothing difficult about acquiring a Browser. [Read more…] about What is Browsers?

What is Plug-Ins?

By Dinesh Thakur

Essentially these are extra programs that can be installed and used as part of a Browser i.e. they plug into it. Typically these would provide extra facilities like the ability to handle sound files or advanced graphics. What this means in practice is that, should a web page incorporate sound as well as text, the relevant plug-in will be needed before it can be read by any Browser and the sound played through the computer’s own speakers. [Read more…] about What is Plug-Ins?

What is Cookies?

By Dinesh Thakur

In American homes, or so the story goes, when visitors arrive they are given a cookie which in Britain would be a biscuit. This philosophy has now been extended to the Internet. By Dinesh Thakur

As all search engines are different they all operate in slightly different ways. The good news is that the same search techniques can be applied to them all, but, as might be expected, each one is a variation around the same theme. To make it even worse not all search engines actually search the Internet, some are what is known as web directories. Then, just to confuse the picture even more some engines do keyword searches while others are concept based. [Read more…] about What is Search Engines?
