The application ribbon can be displayed minimized in the document. In this case, only the spines of the ribbon tabs are visible. The content is hidden from the user.
To minimize the application ribbon, double-click on any ribbon tab spines or use the keyboard shortcut <Ctrl> + <F1>. The rolled-up document is shown in Fig.
When minimized, the ribbon closely resembles the menu bar in previous versions of Excel. However, now clicking on the tab spine does not display a list of menu commands but expands the application ribbon.
Simultaneously, in Excel 2010, the ribbon does not expand but drops out – it overlaps the formula bar and automatically disappears from the screen when you click in the workspace. In this mode, you can select the ribbon tab and the command icon on the tab. Thus, even a rolled tape is functional and allows you to access the utilities provided on the tape quickly. To fully open the tape on it, double-click it (you can also use the key combination <Ctrl> + <F1>).
The system icon in the upper right part of the tape (first from the left, in front of the help call icon) is also intended for folding and unfolding the tape. Depending on the current tape display mode, this icon can take the form of an angular arrow (directed up or down) or a button. Another way to minimize/expand the ribbon is to use the context menu that opens when you right-click on the ribbon. To minimize the ribbon, select the Minimize ribbon check box. To display the ribbon in expanded form, clear the checkbox. The transition to the minimized/expanded tape mode is automatically carried out for all working windows.
